Tourism and Communications are following up the executive position to raise the efficiency of Internet service speeds in the establishments

Dr./ Khaled El-Anany, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, and Dr. Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, held an expanded meeting to find out the latest business developments in the project to raise the efficiency of Internet service speed in hotel establishments of all kinds at the level of the Republic, especially those in Sharm El-Sheikh, as a first stage, in preparation for the tourism equipment to host the Conference of Parties Twenty-seventh United Nations Convention on Climate Change “COP27.”

This meeting came within the framework of permanent coordination between the Ministries of Tourism and Antiquities, Communications and Information Technology, and the ongoing meetings to follow up the executive position to raise the speed of the Internet in all hotel establishments, especially after the issuance of the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities’ decision to obligate all hotel establishments of all kinds to raise the efficiency of The speed of the Internet in it, which is determined according to the classification of each of them, whether five, four or three stars or floating hotels in a maximum period Three months for hotel establishments in Sharm El Sheikh, and the end of this year for the rest of the establishments at the level of the Republic.

During the meeting, the A review of the work that has been implemented on the ground in this regard, as it was confirmed that the fiber-optic cables, for connecting the company’s external network to the facility’s communications room, will be completed to 50 % of the total number of hotel establishments in Sharm El Sheikh during a month so that the establishment can contract on the high-speed Internet service.


During the meeting, the specific timings were emphasized and the training courses prepared by the Ministries of Tourism and Antiquities and Communications and Information Technology through the Communications Regulatory Authority and the Information Technology Institute were reviewed for the inspectors of the Central Administration of Hotel Establishments, Shops and Tourist Activities, on measuring means. The performance of Internet networks in hotels and the quality of internal networks to include these measures in the new evaluation criteria (HC) for these establishments.
