Dr. Amr Talaat attends the Microsoft Summit on Enhancing the Role of Women for Innovation in the Technology Sector

Microsoft Egypt is preparing a summit on enhancing the role of women from For innovation in the technology sector on 15 this March in Cairo, coinciding with the celebration of International Women’s Day.
The summit will be held in the presence of His Excellency Dr. Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, and Ms. Nicole Champagne, Deputy US Ambassador to Cairo And with the extensive participation of leaders in the government and private sectors and civil society.

The summit activities come under the slogan “Empowered.” Women, Empowered Egypt”, with the aim of shedding light on ways to empower women in the fields of science and technology, which contributes to achieving economic growth, equality and innovation, as well as the importance of creating a culture that attracts more women to these fields.
Engineer/ Mirna Aref, General Manager of Microsoft Egypt, said on this occasion: “We believe in Microsoft with The vital role that technology can play in building the capabilities of individuals, especially women, in all societies. Through this first Microsoft event, we are keen to hear the inspiration of our female colleagues and colleagues in various business sectors to explore all the opportunities that this industry offers and we are trying to facilitate an open channel of communication between the senior leadership and the upcoming women leaders in our country. We also aspire to make this event an opportunity to channel the skills and mentorship of the diligent, multi-tasking and ever-growing female workforce in Egypt. The Microsoft Summit also highlights the importance of bridging the gender gap by promoting diversity and inclusion in the workforce, empowering women in the workplace, building women’s capabilities in digital as well as harnessing this great potential to create more innovation and creativity in various economies.”

The one-day summit will include a main session under the title “Diversity and Inclusion: Enabling Sustainable Economic Development” “, which examines the empowerment of women in the workplace, and the provision of equal opportunities between the sexes as one of the important factors for achieving growth in both developed and developing societies. The main session will be attended by Dr. Sally Radwan, Advisor to the Minister of Communications and Information Technology for Artificial Intelligence, and Ms. Malak Al Baba, General Manager of Visa in Egypt, and Ms. Marwa Abbas, General Manager of IBM at Egypt, Ms. Diane Farachon, Marketing and Sales Officer at Schlumberger, Mr. Mohamed Shelbaya, Chairman of the Board of Directors of PepsiCo Egypt, Dr. Eman Megahed, Vice President of Marketing About Digital and Head of Knowledge and Strategy Department.

The main session will also be followed by a discussion panel between Dr. Ayman Ismail, Director The founder of the Entrepreneurship Incubator at the American University, and Mrs. Yasmine Abdel Karim, the co-founder and CEO of “Yalla fi Sekka”. The summit activities will conclude with the “Egyptian Treasure” session by Dr. Marian Azer, former member of the House of Representatives, member of the Board of Directors of the Financial Supervisory Authority, assistant professor at Nile University and director of the information center at the National Telecommunication Institute.
