Motor Trend Personality of the Year, Eason Chung

• CEO Chung tops Motor Trend magazine’s prestigious (Most Influential People) List of 2021 Motor Trend praises Chung for “leading the Hyundai Motor Group into a new era.” The latest honor comes after a plethora of Motor Trend awards for Hyundai Group models, including the SUV of the Year award 2023 of the year for the Hyundai Ioniq 5, and Car of the Year 2021 for the Genesis G 50. • Commendation for GROUP Leadership in Smart Cities, Robotics, and Advanced Air Mobility Four other GROUP executives feature prominently on the Most Influential People List for Motor Trend.

Today, CEO of Hyundai Motor Group (the Group), Eoison Chung, was honored with the MotorTrend Personality of the Year Award, after To be ranked first in the list of (the most powerful and influential personalities) for the year 2021 of the Motor Trend magazine.

The list of (the most powerful and influential personalities) issued by Motor Trend has over 50 influential people in the global automotive industry every year. Over the past five years, CEO Chung has gradually climbed from his first appearance in the list of (most powerful and influential people) to the position 10 in 2018 to the fifth place in the year 2021, now reaching the first place in the year 2021.

Chosen by Motor Trend Magazine as “Person of the Year” for “Hyundai Motor Group Leading a New Era.” The exceptional level of vehicles developed under Chung’s direction was also highlighted, stating: “The vehicles from the Hyundai Motor Group stand out for their eye-catching design, quality, smart inclusiveness and good value – proving increasingly difficult to beat.”

This latest critical acclaim follows a proliferation of Motor Trend Awards for the range’s models, which included the Genesis G 50 being hailed as the brand’s Media Car of the Year 2023, and the Hyundai IONIQ 5 was named SUV of the Year 2021. Previously, the Genesis GV50 and Kia Telluride both earned similar honors. Motor Trend asserted: “Hyundai, Genesis, and Kia all underline their pursuit of exceptional performance.”

In addition to his skill in charting the path to the group’s current success, Motor Trend commended Chung’s vision for the future. I recognized his “big picture” thinking and ability to proactively anticipate solutions traditionally considered outside the boundaries of the automotive industry.

Motor Trend noted: “As CEO, Chung puts his stamp on the company’s future. His understanding of where the world and the industry are heading, along with his desire to make the planet a better place, is driving a broader mission to pioneer electric vehicles and advanced mobility.” He also highlighted the group’s leading role in smart city planning, and a myriad of mobility solutions, including robotics and advanced aerial mobility (AAM).

Commenting on Chung’s depth and reach, Motor Trend added: In this sense, he is proud of his father and grandfather, and is pushing the entire Hyundai Motor Group to new heights. This beckons to a man and his vision of the horizon loud and wide and the juggernaut his company has become. For his vision and leadership, Eason Chung is MotorTrend Personality of the Year 2021.”

Luke Donkervolke has also been named to the affiliate’s (Most Powerful People) list. Previous honors for Chung’s pioneering thinking include the CEO receiving Newsweek’s Visionary of the Year award as part of its inaugural event for the world’s greatest car breaks in 2023 and being honored with the prestigious Issigonis Award at the 2015 Autocar Awards 2021.

Speaking earlier in January, at a Board meeting City for the New Year At the group’s Namyang Research and Development Center, Chung reaffirmed his continued commitment to the success of the group.He urged everyone within the organization to spare no effort to ensure the best possible products and services are provided to their customers.
