Cooperation between Egypt and China in the field of artificial intelligence and digital capacity building

Dr. Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology met with Mr. Liao Liqiang, Ambassador of the Republic of China to Egypt; Where the meeting dealt with discussing strengthening bilateral relations between Egypt and China in the fields of communications and information technology, especially those related to digital capacity building, and artificial intelligence to provide technological solutions to the challenges facing Egyptian society.

During the meeting; Dr. Amr Talaat praised the depth of Egyptian-Chinese relations and the diversity of their fields. Expressing his aspiration to open new horizons for cooperation in areas of common interest; He explained that next year the 70th anniversary of Egyptian-Chinese relations will be celebrated; Where it is scheduled to issue a joint stamp to commemorate this occasion.

Dr. Amr Talaat referred to the Egyptian-Chinese cooperation in the field of communications and technology The information that witnessed a development during the recent period in light of the Minister’s visit to China in 2019, where meetings were held and agreements were concluded with a number of Chinese companies. Dr. Amr Talaat explained the efforts of the Egyptian state to achieve digital transformation and the localization of the artificial intelligence industry; He pointed out that the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology has established the Applied Innovation Center, which conducts a number of applied research in many areas, including; Diagnosing diseases using artificial intelligence, natural language processing and translation, especially the Egyptian colloquial language.

And from his side; The Ambassador praised the Chinese-Egyptian partnership, which is witnessing its strongest phases at the level of political leadership and many sectors; Referring to the recent presidential visit to China in the context of its hosting of the Winter Olympics, where the two presidents communicated agreements to deepen relations, which can be translated through many fields, especially communications and information technology, especially in light of the initiative for a decent life and the digital vision of Egypt; Noting that the joint relations are a model for the relations between China and African and Arab countries.

The ambassador also welcomed the existing cooperation In the field of communications and information technology, praising the sector’s efforts led by the Minister; Pointing out that there are many Chinese companies operating in Egypt, in addition to the active cooperation over the past 20 years in various fields, including raising competencies, digital transformation in government, and smart electricity. This meeting witnessed a discussion of cooperation between the two countries in the fields of electronics design and manufacture, artificial intelligence, digital capacity building, and research and development.

Dr. Amr Talaat invited his Chinese counterpart, through the ambassador, to visit Egypt, and also welcomed the visit to China in light of the invitation extended by the Ambassador of the Republic of China in Cairo.
