O West, one of Orascom Development’s cities in western Cairo, and El Gouna Festival are pleased Film Festival Announcing the start of their activities in Cairo through a special screening of five short films from the program of the fifth session of the El Gouna Film Festival. This partnership aims to organize a series of artistic activities with the aim of supporting and expanding the circle of communication with emerging filmmakers, filmmakers and film students by giving them the opportunity to communicate with favorite artists, and to learn about artistic techniques of cinema through monthly seminars, workshops and special film screenings.
This came during a special screening ceremony organized by the El Gouna Film Festival in partnership with the city of O West, in the presence of Tarek Kamel, CEO of O West, Entisal Al-Tamimi, director of the El Gouna Film Festival, and a group of artists, as well as a group of press, media and students From various film schools, including the Film Institute, the Jesuit Cinema School, the German University and the American University.
Tarek Kamel, CEO of O West, expressed his happiness with this fruitful cooperation, which comes within the framework of Orascom Development’s strategy to support art and culture Sports and Entrepreneurship to discover talents and empower youth, saying: “O West is keen to continue the activities of El Gouna Film Festival throughout the year in Cairo to connect with the largest number of young filmmakers and create an active interactive platform This will lead to the development of cinematic content and the continuation of adding innovative young ideas.”
Intisal Al-Tamimi, Director of El Gouna Film Festival, confirmed, “The cooperation of O West and El Gouna Film Festival will contribute to Spreading cinematic culture among talented youth throughout the year, and creating an interactive platform that allows them to express their ideas and creativity, as El Gouna Film Festival is one of the most important artistic festivals that creative youth go to to present their works to audiences and filmmakers in Egypt and the Arab world. This launch witnessed the screening of 5 short films from 4 countries, namely Egypt, Switzerland, Jordan and Russia, in Zamalek Cinema. The short program will include two films from Egypt: “Cairo-Berlin” by Ahmed Abdel Salam and “Khadija” by Mourad Mustafa, which were shown globally for the first time at the El Gouna Film Festival and witnessed their international premiere in the official competition of the 44th Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival. The film “Arnos” by director Samer Batikhi, which was shown globally for the first time in the world during the fifth edition of the El Gouna Film Festival, will also be shown from Jordan, and the film “Strangers” by director Nora Longati will also be shown from Switzerland, and finally, from Russia, the film “Katia” will be shown He is the winner of the El Gouna Golden Star Award for the short film directed by Andrey Natochinsky. This cooperation will start from March 2022 to June 2022, in addition to organizing live parallel screenings of selected films participating in the sixth edition of El Gouna Film Festival 2022 At the same time as it was shown at the festival to support film lovers who are unable to attend the festival in El Gouna in the Red Sea.
