Dr. Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, met with Eng. Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed, Minister of Transport and Communications in the Kingdom of Bahrain, on the sidelines of the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona; The meeting dealt with discussing investment opportunities and supporting mechanisms of joint cooperation in the fields of communications and information technology.

At the beginning of the meeting; Dr. Amr Talaat emphasized the close historical relations that unite the two countries; which is a model for Arab-Arab relations at all levels; Expressing his aspiration to strengthen relations between the two countries at the level of the communications and information technology sector in light of the common vision of the two countries with the pivotal role of the sector in implementing the concept of a comprehensive digital society and achieving sustainable development.

The meeting discussed ways to support joint cooperation mechanisms in The field of data centers, digital transformation and the provision of digital government services; In addition to investment and cooperation opportunities in the outsourcing industry through companies establishing regional centers of excellence in Egypt to export communications and information technology services to serve Europe, the Middle East and Africa, in addition to discussing cooperation in the field of innovation and entrepreneurship, where ways to support leading Egyptian companies in the field of advanced technology were discussed. It will be based in Bahrain. It was also agreed to arrange an official visit by Bahraini officials to Cairo to learn about the Egyptian efforts in the field of technology incubators. In the field of artificial intelligence applications in the government, in addition to cooperation in the field of human capacity development by taking advantage of specialized training institutes in both countries and exchanging knowledge about the strategy and initiatives of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology to build digital capabilities and use various electronic platforms in online training.

The meeting touched on the Misr Informatics University, which was established by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology in the city of knowledge in the new administrative capital and aims to provide education and scientific research at a global level and grant a double bachelor’s degree with major international universities; Where cooperation was discussed by inviting students in the Kingdom of Bahrain to study at the university.

Dr. Amr Talaat also met with Mr. Roh Te Moon, head of the mobile phone experiences business at Samsung International, and a number of the company’s leaders to discuss opportunities for expansion of the company’s global investments in Egypt, and to enhance joint cooperation in In light of the implementation of the presidential initiative “Egypt manufactures electronics.”

During the meeting, Dr. Amr Talaat confirmed that Samsung is a strategic partner for the Egyptian government in achieving digital transformation in the education system through the manufacture of educational tablets. domestically, and export to neighboring countries benefiting from free trade agreements with Egypt; As well as starting to manufacture mobile phones.

Dr. Amr Talaat explained the state’s efforts to localize the electronics industry; He called on Samsung to be present at the Electronics Innovation Center launched by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology in the Knowledge City in the New Administrative Capital, which is an integrated work environment equipped with a smart infrastructure to support electronics design activities.

In a related context; Dr. Amr Talaat attended a reception hosted by King Philip VI of Spain for the heads of delegations participating in the International Mobile Phone Conference. which discussed the future of the telecommunications industry in the world and future plans for the development of this industry, and the role of technology in shaping the future and addressing important issues such as climate change; The session activities were attended by Mr. Mats Granryd, Director General of the International Association of Mobile Networks GSMA, and a number of officials and leaders of companies operating in the telecommunications industry around the world.

It is noteworthy that Egypt participates with a high-level delegation from the Ministry of Communications and Technology Information headed by Dr. Amr Talaat in the activities of the International Mobile Phone Exhibition and Conference in Barcelona, ​​Spain, which is the most prominent annual global event for the mobile phone and related industries in the world.
